"Ted Williams Hits a Grand Slam Against the Holy Cross Varsity Team in Worcester" April, 1939. This exhibition game against the Holy Cross varsity baseball team was Williams' first game in Massachusetts as a member of the Red Sox. The at-bat shown in the photograph was his first. He hit a grand slam, driving in what would end up being four future Hall of Famers: Joe Cronin, Jimmie Foxx, Bobby Doerr and, of course, Ted himself. The game was played at Fitton Field in Worcester.
